Welcome to
EdVenture Trips!
A collection of the places I explored, discovered, and ventured.
A collection of the places I explored, discovered, and ventured.
The name EdVenture is a blend of my name, Edna, and the word adventure. It also represents the spirit of Exploring, Discovering, and Venturing beyond the ordinary.
This space is dedicated to sharing my personal experiences in backpacking and hiking. For me, travel isn’t about shopping, eating, or ticking off tourist attractions. It’s about immersing myself in nature, learning about different cultures, and embracing the outdoors.
I believe the most meaningful adventures happen in nature. When you step outside your comfort zone and open yourself up to new experiences, you gain fresh perspectives. And often, you don’t need a certified therapist to feel grounded, as nature adventure itself is the best therapy, offering both physical and mental benefits through simple, sensory moments.
This website is a collection of my journeys (please read the disclaimer), perfect for anyone who loves spending time in nature. As you scroll through EdVenture’s trips, I hope you’ll feel inspired to begin your own outdoor adventure.
Choose the destination you are interested in.
Choose the activities under each destination. Activities are grouped into 3 categories:
EXPLORE the unseen - Some of the interesting places worth visiting, generally tourist attractions.
DISCOVER your inner self - Therapeutic day walks for those who appreciate being in nature and climbs for beginners.
VENTURE beyond limits - Challenging and/or multi-day hikes staying in a mountain hut or tent to rejuvenate your soul.
A combined travel and hiking log integrates the benefits of both types of logs and serves several purposes. I tend to forget where I went before and what happened, especially after I've been on so many trips. This is an excellent place for me to track the hiking/climbing trips I've done. I will also include sightseeing trips if possible. Some places are worth visiting again and it is easier to have all the information I need at my fingertips.
Captures memories of places visited, hikes undertaken, people met, and experiences had, preserving them for future reflection.
Enhances appreciation of natural landscapes and cultural experiences by documenting both aspects in one place, including both urban and wilderness adventures.
Keeping records of routes taken, trails completed, and travel itineraries, is useful for future planning and sharing with others. Hikes done in various seasons/months can be comparable to the surrounding area or similar hikes, and aids with gear planning. The statistics is a gauge for time management for future hikes.
Documents trail conditions, weather, and travel tips, enhancing safety and preparedness for future trips and hikes.
Helps track my hiking progress, including distances covered, trails hiked, and elevation gains, allowing me to see improvements over time.
Offers a way to reflect on personal growth, achievements, experiences and challenges faced during hikes.
Acts as a motivational tool by showcasing past accomplishments and inspiring continued exploration and adventure. Also provides inspiration for others to explore the outdoors and try new trails by showcasing the beauty and rewards of hiking.
Records practical information such as travel costs, accommodations, gear performance, and recommendations, useful for future reference and for others planning similar journeys.
As I often hike alone, this is a place where people can find my climbing experiences and the gear I have for Search And Rescue (SAR) purposes.
*Note that all are solo trips unless stated.
I preserve my photos unfiltered to let people experience nature as I see it—raw, authentic, and untouched, capturing the true beauty and essence of every moment. In a world where images are often heavily edited, I believe in sharing the unaltered reality of the natural world. This approach allows me to convey the genuine colors, textures, and emotions of the landscapes I encounter. By keeping my photos unfiltered, I invite viewers to connect with the pure and unembellished splendor of nature, fostering a deeper appreciation for its inherent beauty.
Hiking has always been one of my favorite ways to enjoy the outdoors. But unlike some people, I don’t train for hikes because to me, going for hikes is the training.
I don’t follow strict routines or cardio plans just to get ready for a trail. As long as I maintain an average level of fitness, I find that I can handle most hikes just fine. I believe hiking should be enjoyable, not something that feels like a test of endurance or preparation. It’s not about speed or performance but it's about presence.
For me, hiking is also a form of adventure therapy. It’s how I decompress from daily stresses, slow down, and reflect on my life. There’s something incredibly grounding about walking through a forest, hearing your breath match your steps, and letting your thoughts settle. It’s not just about reaching a summit, it’s about the clarity and peace I gain along the way.
So no, I don’t train for hikes in the traditional sense. I hike regularly, and that in itself keeps me active, engaged, and connected to nature, to movement, and to myself. Each hike becomes part of a rhythm that strengthens both body and mind, without adding pressure or stress about training goals or fitness benchmarks.
Because in the end, hiking isn’t a race. It’s a journey, and I’m here to enjoy every step.
